Having had a decent 2010, Kollywood is all set to raise the bar in 2011. And what better way to start the year than the festive occasion of Pongal. If we have a look at this year's Pongal releases, it is certainly disappointing to see no big stars involved in the releases but otherwise the mix of movies sound quite promising.
• There were four movies lined up for this Pongal but it is increasingly looking like we would have only three releases.
• Karthi-starrer Siruthai and Dhanush-starrer Aadukalam will release on the 14th of this month. While Siruthai is a remake of a Telugu movie and is a mass entertainer, Aadukalam is based on a real incident that happened in Madurai in the 1970s.
• Pa. Vijay's Ilaignan is slated for a Jan 15 release. The genre of this movie is different from the other two as Ilaignan is a period movie which is set in the backdrop of the late 1950s.
• Kavalan was supposed to be released alongside Siruthai and Aadukalam on the 14th, but has been dropped due to unforseen circumstances. But all is not lost as the producers are doing their best to release the movie on the 15th atleast. So will it be Vijay vs Vijay duel on the 15th? |
