Vijay - Danush to clashes again for Pongal
Three years back, it was Villu Vs Padikadhavan that was released on January 14. However both the films received lukewarm response disappointing the fans.
This year 2011, it was Aadukalam and Kaavalan that won critical acclaims and yielded best results for producers as well.
The forthcoming Pongal is not gonna be an exception as the actors will continue to clash with their films. If what we heard from the trade circles is believed to be true then Dhanush’s upcoming movie ‘3’ directed by his wife Aishwarya will hit screens on January 14, 2012. Shankar’s ‘Nanban’ starring Vijay, Jeeva and Srikanth is already confirmed for the same occasion as the paper ads have already confirmed it as ‘Pongal is Well’.

Additional prints for velayudham
With a longer weekend still going on, the theatre owners and exhibitors have demanded for additional prints of the film. Across the states of Kerala and Karnataka, the fans circle for Vijay has increased than the usual limits. The repeat audiences in Kerala are rushing into the theatres to watch it again and again.
Well, it’s worth mentioning that Kerala audiences have welcomed even his films like ‘Sura’ and ‘Velayutham’ has become a huge hit over there.
Ilayathalapathy Vijay has thanked his fans for extending their support and making the film successful.
Diwali My choice movie
Is there a proven, time tested formula for making blockbuster movies? That would make all our lives easier. But unfortunately there isn’t. Directors who have stuck to one rule have always struck gold. The movie must entertain. That is the critical and most cardinal criteria. Everything else comes second. Whether it is commercial or realistic cinema, the entire package has to be delivered with a style that keeps the audience engaged from title to end credits.
Going by the trend of 2011, the movies that have clicked have been great entertainers. Most first time directors seem to remember this. That is why we had Engeyum Eppothum, a sleeper hit, directed by Saravanan which kept us engrossed in the lives of four innocent victims falling prey to fate. Kumararaja scripted Aaranya Kaandam as a drug deal gone wrong but the events were strung so taut that we couldn’t look away even for a moment. Azhagarsaamiyin Kudhirai weaved a tale with Appukutty and his equestrian love. It was fresh and appealing. All three movies did not have star power. They banked completely on the script and story to pave their way to success. And they succeeded with aplomb.
But even movies with star power reigned high. Aadukalam is Dhanush’s finest performance till date. But Dhanush’s Mappillai was a disaster. Even he is aware that his presence alone does not guarantee a hit. Vettrimaran’s screenplay was so perfect that all the actors had to merely enact the lines. They added meat to their role by perfecting their portrayals. Deiva Thirumagal landed in Vikram’s lap and he leaped beyond his boundaries with his stellar performance. Yudham Sei, a crime thriller, had Cheran with a two line script. But if anybody can direct a thriller, Myskin can too.
These two sets prove that one does not need a proven actor or a huge star to make a super hit movie. As long as the actor can play his role to perfection and the story keeps the audience engaged, the director will deliver.
To illustrate this further we saw Engeyum Kaadhal, a romantic interlude set in Paris, crash. The location was poetic but the storyline was weak. The actors seem to jump in and out of scenes and the comedy was forgettable. Nootrenbadhu, a debut attempt by Jayendra left without making any impact. The visuals were stunning in both movies, the former strolled through the street of Paris and the latter sailed from Chennai to San Francisco. But that was not enough. Even a seasoned director like Bala could not make Avan Ivan shatter records. Bala’s movies are a class apart. Even if it is about a grave digger we watch the movie for the perfectionist he is. He interlaces a heavy storyline with superb humor but even he couldn’t work his magic with Avan Ivan.
If established directors can fail, new comers can deliver hits, what is it that keeps the pulse of the movie under check? Do all directors have to be good writers? KV Anand seems to agree, which is why he left the scripting of KO to Subha. The movie defied box office records and the twists and turns ensured repeat audiences. The songs added power to this blockbuster.
With the way 2011 is hurtling, there are surprise hits, sleeper hits and blockbusters. It seems to come from places we least expect. Diwali saw the release of two big stars – Vijay and Suriya. While Vijay plays the villager turned vigilante, Suriya delves into the roots of Bodhidharma. Which will click? Both have star power and seasoned directors. Velyutham’s songs are chartbusters but 7aum Arivu brings a sense of déjà vu which doesn’t sit well with avid listeners.
Vijay promises a commercial pot boiler which suits the festive mood while Suriya is food for thought. But the one that breaks records will be the one that entertains the most. Audiences want charming romance, rib tickling comedy, jaw dropping stunts and an engaging story line. Velayutham seems to be the perfect match and that is going to be my ticket for this Diwali. Bodhidharmar has to wait for another day.

இப்படம் குறித்து நடிகர் விஜய்யின் பத்திரிகையாளர் சந்திப்பு நேற்று ( அக்டோபர் 28 ) சென்னையில் நடைபெற்றது. அப்பத்திரிகையாளர் சந்திப்பில் விஜய் பேசியது :
' வேலாயுதம் ' திரைப்படம் உலகம் எங்கிலும் மாபெரும் வரவேற்பை பெற்று இருக்கிறது. படம் பார்க்கும் அனைவருமே சந்தோஷப்படும் வகையில் அமைந்து இருக்கிறது.
படத்தின் தயாரிப்பாளர் ஆஸ்கார் ரவிச்சந்திரன் என்னிடம் 'படம் கண்டிப்பாக பெரிய வெற்றி பெறும்' என்று கூறினார். அவர் கூறியது போலவே படமும் அமைந்து இருப்பது பெரும் மகிழ்ச்சி அளிக்கிறது.
' வேலாயுதம் ' படத்தின் க்ளைமாக்ஸ் காட்சியில் 6 பேக்கா என்று கேட்கிறார்கள்.அது எல்லாம் இல்லை. சிங்கிள் பேக் தான். இயக்குனர் கேட்டு கொண்டதற்கு இணங்க சட்டை இல்லாமல் நடித்தேன் அவ்வளவு தான்.
படத்தின் மொத்த கலெக்ஷன் ரிப்போட் இன்னும் ஒரு வாரத்தில் தயாரிப்பாளர் தரப்பில் இருந்து வெளியிடப்படும். இரண்டாம் வாரத்தில் இன்னும் அதிக திரையரங்குகளில் படத்தினை திரையிட இருக்கிறோம்.
' வேலாயுதம் ' படத்தினை தொடர்ந்து ஷங்கர் சார் இயக்கத்தில் ' நண்பன் ' வெளிவர இருக்கிறது. அப்படம் முற்றிலும் வித்தியாசமான படம். முழுப்படமும் அனைவரையும் சிரிக்க வைக்கும். ஷங்கர் சார் ஒரு பிரம்மாண்டமான இயக்குனர்.
அடுத்ததாக ஏ.ஆர்.முருகதாஸ் இயக்கத்தில் நடிக்க இருக்கிறேன். படத்தின் தயாரிப்பாளர் விரைவில் அதற்கான அறிவிப்பை வெளியிடுவார்.
ஒரே மாதிரி கதைகளில் நடிக்கிறீர்களே என்று கேட்கிறார்கள். ஏன்.. வேலாயுதம் படத்திற்கு முன்பு வெளிவந்த 'காவலன்' படம் வித்தியாசமான கதைக்களம் தானே. அப்படத்தில் குத்துப்பாடல் மற்றும் சண்டைக்காட்சிகள் இல்லையே."
'Am I Stereotypical?' – Actor Vijay
Actor Vijay along with director Raja and music director Vijay Anthony was present for the media interaction session last evening. While addressing the media channels, actor Vijay said, “I am very much disappointed to hear that I have been performing stereotypical roles, which is absolutely false. ‘Kaavalan’ wasn’t my style of movie as it didn’t have any punch dialogues, opening song. I didn’t use my Makkal Iyakkam flag during climax of ‘Velayudham’. ‘Nanban’ is completely different from my usual films.”
Actor Vijay is sure as shooting stars with his upcoming movies that includes ‘Nanban’ scheduled to hit screens for Pongal followed by Gautham Menon’s ‘Yohan: Adhyayam Ondru’ scheduled for Diwali 2012.
VIJAY TO HOST TELEVISION SHOW
Vijay has been signed up to host a television show on the lines of Kaun Banega Crorepati. The star had initially refused to do the show by Vijay TV was insistent that he would be the only right choice.
Apparently, Vijay was handed over blank cheque to host this show. Finally, Vijay decided to take up the offer, not for the money but for the immense popularity that it had brought to Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan who had hosted similar shows in Hindi.

And now due to tremendous demand from fans across Tamil Nadu, theatres owners have asked for more prints. The film is produced by Aascar Ravichandran and directed by Jayam Raja.

வேலாயுதம் - விமர்சனம்
குண்டு வெடிப்புகள் நிகழ்த்தி நாட்டை சீர்குலைக்க ஊடுரவும் தீவிரவாதிகளுடன் மோதும் இளைஞன் கதை...
ஜய்யின் ஆக்ஷன் பார்முலா இயக்குனர் எம்.ராஜாவின் அழுத்தமான கதையாக்கம் பிரமாண்ட காட்சி கலவையுடன் படம் விறுவிறுப்பாய் எகிறுகிறது...
கதை பாகிஸ்தான், ஆப்கானிஸ்தான் எல்லையில் துவங்குகிறது. தமிழக உள்துறை மந்திரியை தீவிரவாதிகள் கடத்தி செல்லும் ஹெலிகாப்டர் அங்கு இறங்குகிறது. அவர்களிடம் மந்திரி மண்டியிட்டு சென்னையில் குண்டு வெடிப்புகள் நடத்த உதவுதாக வாக்குறுதி அளிக்கிறார். அதன்படி தீவிரவாதிகள் சென்னைக்குள் ஊடுருவுகின்றனர்.
மந்திரி தயவில் நடக்கும் கள்ள நோட்டு அச்சடிப்பு இளம்பெண் கடத்தல் என சமூக விரோத செயலில் ஈடுபடும் கும்பலை பத்திரிகை நிருபர் ஜெனிலியா வெளிச்சத்துக்கு கொண்டு வர முயற்சிக்கிறார். அவரை ரவுடிகள் பிடித்து குத்தி சாய்க்கின்றனர்.
ஜெனிலியாவின் இரு கூட்டாளிகளை கொல்கின்றனர். அதிர்ஷ்டவசமாய் உயிர் பிழைக்கும் ஜெனிலியா தீவிரவாதிகள் குண்டு வெடிப்பு சதியை கண்டு பிடித்து அதை கடிதமாக எழுதி வைக்கிறார். குண்டு வெடிப்பை தடுப்பேன் என உறுதி அளித்து கீழே வேலாயுதம் என கையெழுத்து போட்டு விட்டு ஆஸ்பத்திரியில் சிகிச்சைக்கு சேருகிறார்.
கிராமத்தில் பால் விற்கும் தொழில் செய்யும் வேலாயுதமான விஜய் தங்கை சரண்யாமோகன் திருமணத்துக்காக சீட்டு கட்டி சேர்த்து வைத்த பணத்தை வாங்க சென்னையில் உள்ள சிட்பண்ட் நிறுவனத்துக்கு வருகிறார். அப்போது ரெயில் நிலையத்தில் தீவிரவாதிகள் பதுக்கிய வெடிகுண்டு மோட்டார்சைக்கிளில் ஏறி திருடனை விரட்டி போய் வெளியில் நிறுத்த அங்கு வெடிக்கிறது.
பயணிகள் காப்பாற்றப்படுகின்றனர். இது போல் கூட்டம் கூடும் பகுதியில் இருக்கும் இன்னொரு வெடிகுண்டு சூட்கேசை எடுத்து தவறி விட்டு போனதாக நினைத்து அதை வைத்தவரிடமே கொண்டு கொடுக்க அங்குள்ள ரவுடி கும்பல் வெடித்து சிதறுகின்றனர். உருவம் தெரியாத வேலாயுதத்தை மக்கள் கடவுளாக கொண்டாடுகிறார்கள்.
ஜெனிலியாவுக்கு விஷயம் தெரிகிறது. விஜய்யிடம் மக்கள் அவரை வேலாயுதமாக கருதுவதை உணர்த்துகிறார். நிஜமாகவே வேலாயுதமாக மாறி தீவிரவாதிகளை அழிக்க நிர்ப்பந்திக்கிறார். ஒரு கட்டத்தில் தான் பணம் போட்ட கம்பெனியை மூடி அங்கிருந்த பணத்தை மந்திரி ஆட்கள் சுருட்டுகின்றனர். பணத்தை இழந்த மக்கள் வேலாயுதம் வந்து எங்களுக்கு பணத்தை வாங்கி கொடுப்பார் என நம்பிக்கை குரல் எழும்புகின்றனர். அதன் பிறகு விஜய் எடுக்கும் வேலாயுதம் அவதாரமும் தீவிரவாதிகளுடன் நடக்கும் சண்டைகளும் மீதி கதை...
காமெடி, சென்டி மென்ட், ஆக்ஷனில் விஜய்யை இன்னொரு தளத்துக்கு தூக்கியுள்ள படம். தங்கை பாசத்தில் சிக்சர் அடிக்கிறார். கோழி பிடிக்க வீட்டு கூரைகளில் தாவி குதித்து ஓடி ஒவ்வொரு வீட்டுக்காரையும் இம்சை படுத்துவது... கிணற்றில் விழுந்த தங்கை மோதிரத்தை எடுக்க உள்ளே தங்கம் இருப்பதாக சொல்லி ஊர்க்காரர்களை தண்ணீர் இறைக்க வைத்து மோதிரத்தை கண்டு பிடித்து கம்பி நீட்டுவது... தங்கை சமைத்த ருசி இல்லாத உணவை நண்பர்களுடன் சாப்பிட்டு புகழ்வது.. என காமெடியர்களை தூக்கி சாப்பிடும் காமெடி பண்ணுகிறார்.
வேலாயுதம் ஆன பின் கதை ஆக்ஷன் ரூட்டுக்கு தாவுகிறது. சிட்பண்ட் பணத்துடன் ஓடும் ரவுடிகளை கடற்கரை யோரம் மோதி அழித்து கடலுக்குள் வீசுவது வேகம்.. ரெயிலை தீவிரவாதிகள் கடத்தி தொழிற் சாலையில் மோத விட்டு விஷ வாயுவை பரப்பி மக்களை கொல்ல முயற்சிப்பதும் விஜய் அதை தடுக்க ஆக்ரோஷமாக மோதுவதும் ஹாலிவுட்டுக்கு இணையான பிரமிப்பு.
விஜய்யின் முறைப்பெண் ஹன்சிகா கிராமத்து தேவதை. பத்திரிகை நிருபர் கேரக்டரில் ஜெனிலியா வலு சேர்க்கிறார். சரண்யா மோகன் பாசக்கார தங்கை. ஊர்க்காரர்களை காப்பாற்ற அவர் செய்யும் தியாகம் உலுக்குகிறது. திருடனாக வரும் சந்தானம் காமெடி கலகலப்பின் உச்சம். மகள் காதலுக்கு உதவும் எம்.எஸ்.பாஸ்கர் சிரிக்க வைக்கிறார். ரெயில் சண்டைக்கு பின் கதை நீள்வதை குறைத்து இருக்கலாம். கமர்சியல் கதையை விறு விறுப்பாக காட்சிப்படுத்தி ஒன்ற வைக்கிறார் இயக்குனர் ராஜா. பிரியன் கேமராவில் பிரமாண்டத்தின் பதிவு. விஜய் ஆண்டனி இசையில் பாடல்கள் கேட்கும் ரகம்.
இண்டர்நேஷனல் ஏஜெண்ட் விஜய் ! : கௌதம் மேனன்
இந்நிலையில் இப்படம் கூறித்து கெளதம் மேனன் " 'யோஹன் - முதல் அத்தியாயம்... படத்துக்கு ஏன் அந்த பெயர் ? ஸோ சிம்பிள்! எனக்கு விஜய்யோடு முதல் சந்திப்பு சரியா அமையலை. அடுத்த இரண்டு சந்திப்புகளில் நான் சொன்னது அவரோட எண்ணத்துக்கு எட்டலை. கடைசிச் சந்திப்பில் 'இந்தத் தடவை நான் உங்களை விடப்போறது இல்லை. இனி, மிஸ் பண்ணவே வேண்டாம்’னு அவரே சொன்னார்.
நானும் அவரை வெச்சுப் படம் பண்ண ரொம்ப ஆர்வமா இருந்தேன். 'யோஹன்’ ஒரு இன்டர்நேஷனல் தமிழ்ப் படமாக இருக்கும். இதில் இன்டர்நேஷனல் ஏஜென்ட் ஆக வர்றார் விஜய். எனக்கும் விஜய்க்கும் இப்படி ஒரு படம் புதுசு. வெளிநாட்டு அசைன்மென்ட்டுக்குப் போன பிறகு, யோஹனின் இரண்டு மாத அனுபவங்கள்தான் முதல் அத்தியாயம்.

பெரிய இயக்குநர்கள் இன்னும் நம்பி என்னை ஃபிக்ஸ் பண்ணுவாங்க கண்களில் தொக்கி நிற்கும் டிரேட் மார்க் புன்னகையுடன் பேட்டியை ஆரம்பிக்கிறார் விஜய். ஷங்கர் – விஜய் காம்பினேஷன் சந்தோஷம்… எப்படி வந்திருக்கு ‘நண்பன்’?ஷங்கர் சார் என் அப்பாகிட்ட அசிஸ்டென்டா இருந்தப்பவே பழக்கம்தான். அப்பப்போ அவர்கிட்ட பேசி இருக்கேன். ஆனா, இன்னைக்கு இருக்குற ஷங்கர் வேற. படத்தின் ஒவ்வொரு ஃப்ரேமையும் அவர் பிளான் பண்ற மெத்தட் சிம்ப்ளி சூப்பர் ஷங்கர் சார் படத்தில் ஈஸியா நடிச்சிடலாம். ஏன்னா, அவரே நடிச்சுக் காட்டிருவார். அவர் இன்னைக்கு இந்திய அளவில் பிரபலமான டைரக்டர். அந்தப் பேர் சும்மா வந்தது இல்லை. என்னைக் கேட்டா, அவரை ‘இந்தியாவின் ஸ்டீவன் ஸ்பீல்பெர்க்’னு சொல்வேன். நான் எப்பவோ அவரோட இயக்கத்தில் நடிச்சிருக்க வேண்டியது. ஆனா, வேற வேற காரணங்களால் தள்ளிப்போச்சு. இப்போ கச்சிதமா செட் ஆகி இருக்கு. ‘த்ரீ இடியட்ஸ்’ இந்திப் படம் மொழி எல்லை எல்லாம் தாண்டி இந்தியாவையே வசீகரிச்சது. அதை இன்னும் அழகேத்தி உருவாக்கி இருக்கிறார் ஷங்கர் சார்! ஜீவா, ஸ்ரீகாந்த்கூட ஃப்ரெண்ட் ஆகிட்டீங்களா? ஜீவா ரொம்ப ஜாலி. டேக்குக்குப் போற அந்த விநாடி வரை கமென்ட் அடிச்சுட்டே இருப்பார். அவர் ஸ்பாட்ல இருந்தா யூனிட்டே சந்தோஷமா இருக்கும். ஸ்ரீகாந்த் முன்னாடியே எனக்கு ஃப்ரெண்ட்தான். இப்ப இன்னும் க்ளோஸ் ஆயிட்டார். சத்யராஜ் சார்கிட்ட நிறையப் பேசிக்கிட்டே இருந்தோம். நாங்க ஷூட்டிங் ஸ்பாட்டில் நட்பாகப் பழகினது ஃப்ரேமில் நல்லாவே தெரியும். நல்ல கதையில் இப்படி ஒரு டீமோட நடிச்சது எனக்கு ரொம்பப் பிடிச்சிருக்கு. இப்போ ஷூட்டிங் முடிஞ்சதும் எங்க டீமை நான் ரொம்ப மிஸ் பண்றேன். கௌதம் வாசுதேவ் மேனன் இயக்கத்தில் நடிக்க எப்படித் தயார் ஆகிட்டு இருக்கீங்க..? பொது நண்பர் ஒருத்தர் மூலம்தான் கௌதம் மேனன் என்னை இயக்க ஆசைப்படுவதுபத்தித் தெரிஞ்சுக்கிட்டேன். சந்திச்சோம். அவர் சொன்ன கதை ரொம்பப் பிடிச்சிருந்தது. இங்கேயும் அமெரிக்காவிலும் நடக்கும் கதை. கௌதம் படம் எப்பவும் ஸ்டைலிஷா இருக்கும். ‘யோஹன்ஷ படத்துக்காக என் லுக், பாடி லாங்குவேஜ்னு எல்லாத்தையும் டியூன் பண்ணிட்டு இருக்கேன். அடுத்து ஏ.ஆர். முருகதாஸ் இயக்கத்தில் நடிக்கப் போறேன். இப்படி ஷங்கர், முருகதாஸ், கௌதம்னு காம்பினேஷன் அமையுறது நல்ல விடயம். |

The plans for advance bookings opened yesterday across all the theatres. Velayutham
Remakes have been the order of Jayam Raja’s career as the director’s filmography had never had a direct film. Buzzes rounded upon airs that the film is a rip from yesteryear Telugu movie ‘Aazad’ that starred Nagarjuna, late actress Soundarya and Shilpa Shetty in lead roles. Initially Jayam Raja had rubbished them as baseless rumours, but finally drew the line that he has been inspired merely by the plot. Nothing wrong and of course, it’s true that the similarity between these films ends with the PLOT. Jayam Raja has taken scrutinizing efforts over crafting an engrossing screenplay while writers Subha’s dialogues stands out as an additional attraction for this movie.
Set in backdrops of Afghanistan-Pakistan border, the terrorists invite Home Minister of Tamil Nadu to plan about planting bombs in Tamil Nadu. The terrorist leader (Abhimanyu Singh) targets Chennai as it is one of the fast developing cities of India. The local henchmen of the politician soon start planning up and a journalist (Genelia D Souza) investigates and captures their plans through camcorder, but is unfortunately entrapped by them. While her crew is stabbed to death, she somehow survives the injury. She becomes the witness of the goons’ death through an accident and turns it up in a different way making people believe that it was Velayutham (An imaginative person who doesn’t exist) bumped them off as they were planning to set up bombs. Also she leaves a note that Velayutham would go on hunting down the baddies, who are on the bombing spree.
But everything turns to be a bigger surprise when Velayutham (Vijay) comes to Chennai from his village along with his sister (Saranya Mohan), cousin girl (Hansika Motwani), relatives and close friends. He is here to receive the saving amount of Rs. 15Lakhs in a finance company for his sister’s marriage.
Out of coincidence, Velayutham becomes a major cause for saving hundreds and thousands of innocent lives from the bombs and is thrown into ultimate surprise when Genelia reveals everything and asks him to become the real Velayutham.
Though reluctant first, Velayutham is urged by situations to step into the shoes of Superhero to bash down the baddies.
Vijay doesn’t step out of his usual style as ‘Velayutham’ turns to be an AGMARK Vijay film laced with fun, action, sentiments, romance and emotions. But everything is set at adequate amount and credit goes to Jayam Raja for his screenplay. Especially the first half has unlimited entertainment while first few minutes of post-intermission phase has some dull moments due to more action sequences. However the film gets back into its shape with perfection.
Hansika Motwani’s purpose is here to offer a glamorous treat and she gratifies the audiences while Genelia D Souza has meaty role to perform. Santhanam’s comedy tracks are enjoyable and it’s evident that Jayam Raja has added more intensity with his sense of humour. There are more comedy artists in this film and they emblazon the humor quotients to a greater magnitude.
Abhimanyu Singh as the terrorist does justice to his role while M.S. Bhaskar as Hansika Motwani’s father is good.
Musical score by Vijay Anthony contributes a lot to the film and it goes well with the placement of the songs. Every song is a treat to audiences in a special way. ‘Molachu Moonu’ is a splendiferous melody shot in the scenic backdrops of Dal Lake, Kashmir while ‘Chillax’ is a treat for mass audiences.
‘Velayutham’ as on whole becomes a sure-footed winner in box office as it boasts of all elements required to keep the audiences engaged throughout the film.
