Vinnai Kappan... Vocals: Tipu, Swetha Lyrics: Pa. Vijay Trumpet sounds and heavy beats mark the introduction of Kaavalan. This is not a typical Vijay intro song, but falls in the same category as it is reminiscent of earlier such songs. Pa. Vijay's lyrics are aptly rendered by Tipu and Swetha. The female voice in this song gives an interesting feel to it. This one is for Vijay's fans! Yaradu... Vocals: Karthik, Suchitra Lyrics: Yugabharathi Violins pave way for synthesised beats but Karthik and Suchitra's voices make this a delightful song to listen to. Having created a name for himself in churning out melodies, Vidyasagar can be seen at ease rendering this song. An undisturbed rhythm, creative sound mixings and the romantic feel to the song makes us want to listen to this more than once. A crowd favourite most definitely! Step Step... Vocals: Benny Dayal, Megha Lyrics: Viveka We can't help but visualise Vijay tap-dancing at the beginning of this song. ‘Step Step’ is an energetic number with the sudden downscales in rhythm causing no interruptions to the song. As is the case with some of Vijay's songs, this one must gain popularity once people see the visuals on the screen. Sada Sada... Vocals: Karthik Lyrics: Yugabharathi This song appeals right from the start. With the rhythm machine in use, this song hardly misses a beat. Karthik makes the song all the more lively and enjoyable to listen to. Vidyasagar's experience is seen here yet again as he does not deviate from the course. A worthy listen! Pattamboochi... Vocals: KK, Rita Lyrics: Kabilan A romantic number, Pattamboochi is simple in terms of music arrangements. Vidyasagar can be appreciated for not going overboard with music as he has KK and Rita delivering the required emotions with ease. This song may be a favourite with young fans of Vijay! Verdict: Overall, Vidyasagar's music album for Kavalan is quite different from his earlier albums for Vijay. The music is fresh and youthful. As is the case, a couple of songs will attach with the audience once the movie gets released. The most interesting aspect is that Vidyasagar has not gone overboard to emphasise Vijay's star value and has delivered what the movie requires, which augers well for the movie itself. A desirable collection of songs! | |||||||
